Last week with the help of Miriam Lemus and Josh Worthington our class learned about the melachot of Tzad (trapping), Shochet (slaughtering), Maphshit (skinning), Ma'abed (tanning), M'machek (smoothing), M'sartet (marking), and M'chatech (cutting). These acts were done in the time of the building of the Mishkan for creating decorative and protective covers for Mishkan.
We looked at several deer skins to determine the cause of death (usually they were shot by hunters) and saw some sheep skins as well. Josh and Miriam described how to take off the skin and hair and the importance of soaking it to be able to tan it and stretch it well.
Students encounter the deer skin for the first time.
The final stage of the skin to be used for parchment.

I like the pictures mrs. tonti they realy captured the moment are you going to post your other pictures?
Wow... I strangely like the picture of Mimi and me... even though it looks like I am pulling up my pants.
I think you should put up pictures of the garden "transformation". Like, the stage/process it's taking to become more clean/cleared up. That would be kinda cool.......
is this homework?
I like the pictures that you chose to post for the blog. You should add something about the challah baking activity as well.
